From the Beginning: A Look Back at My Early DeviantArt Works (2013–2014)

Every journey has a starting point, and for me, that beginning is documented on my DeviantArt gallery going all the way back to December 5, 2013. Long before I was exploring kaleidoscopes, psychedelic fractals, and the sprawling universes of digital abstraction, I was simply experimenting—testing ideas, playing with color, shape, symmetry, and seeing how far creativity could go when guided only by curiosity.

These two pages of early works are a time capsule of what would eventually become my signature style.

Photography That Taught Me to See

Before I dove into heavy digital manipulation, I spent a lot of time wandering outside with my camera. That’s where many seeds of imagination were planted.

On these pages you’ll find:

  • New beginnings of spring — tiny crocuses pushing through the soil
  • Dormant winter plants — earthy browns and intricate dried textures
  • Pine cones and forest floor details — early explorations in macro texture
  • A weathered stone staircase from an old site, reminding me of forgotten passages
  • A sunset at Valley Forge, a warm and glowing moment of calm
  • A towering historical statue, captured from below
  • The inner hollow of a fallen tree, a natural tunnel carved by time

These photographs were my teachers. They taught me composition, color harmony, symmetry found in nature, and most of all—patience. Every photo on those pages helped sharpen my artistic eye long before I translated those lessons into digital work.

Early Digital Animals: Where Stylization Began

Some of my earliest digital experiments were hand-drawn animals overlaid with intricate fractal or kaleidoscopic pattern work. These were the first hints of the psychedelic abstract art I create today.

You’ll find:

  • Bird 3 — a glowing, neon-lined bird floating inside a swirling electric vortex
  • A stylized crow illustration with detailed linework
  • A goldfish riding a cosmic whirlpool of blue and gold
  • A shimmering sea turtle swimming across a textured fractal ocean
  • Dragonflies, bees, cardinals, and other early sketch-to-digital hybrids

These pieces mark the moment I discovered how much I loved merging organic subjects with otherworldly textures—turning ordinary creatures into glowing icons of color and movement.

The Birth of My Abstract Style

Alongside the photography and animal work were the early foundations of what would eventually become my signature abstract kaleidoscopic visual universe.

Across the two pages you’ll see:

  • Monochrome mirrored drawings full of strange shapes that seem alive
  • Thick, textured graphite-to-digital abstractions
  • Early symmetry experiments that paved the way for hundreds of later works
  • Pieces like “Equanimity,” “Potent Calm,” and “Never Began Without End,” which already show hints of the color language and emotional resonance I’d explore more deeply in later years

Even then, I was fascinated by repetition, balance, and the meditative power of mirrored art. These experiments were raw, imperfect, and deeply exciting to create.

Looking Back With Gratitude

Seeing these works side by side today is like looking at a constellation of beginnings. Every photo, every sketch, every abstract attempt was a piece of the puzzle—a step toward the artistic identity I built over the next decade.

From these two gallery pages alone, you can see:

  • the curiosity
  • the early experimentation
  • the transition from traditional to digital
  • and the seeds of my modern psychedelic, kaleidoscopic style

I’m grateful I shared these early pieces on DeviantArt back then, even when I didn’t know where the journey would lead. They are reminders of how far I’ve come, and how much creativity grows when you nurture it year after year.

If you’ve followed my work since those days—or even if you’re discovering it now—thank you for being part of this evolving artistic adventure.

More creations are always on the way.
